About the coin series: Wildlife Elephant
The Wildlife Elephant Somalia has been minted by the Bavarian Mint since 2004. Originally, this series was designed as a collector's coin series and so the first issues were only available in small quantities and encapsulated. With the 2009 issue, the coin was then produced in large quantities as a bullion coin and is delivered packaged in tubes of 20 pieces. In addition to the 1 Oz silver coin, further issues in gold (5 Oz proof, 1 Oz bullion coin, 1/25 Oz and 1/50 Oz bullion coin) as well as various collector's editions in silver (colored, gold-plated, high relief, etc.) have been issued in recent years. The series is enjoying increasing popularity and significant collector's premiums are being paid for older issues. This makes this series very interesting as an alternative to the Maple Leaf, Philharmonic etc.!
